The earliest snakes evolved from lizards during the Cretaceous Period,
Titanoboa was found in the rocks of Colombia in South America. The fossils of this huge snake shows it was the biggest, heaviest and longest snake ever.
Titanoboa was as big as a school bus!
When it lived: 60-58 million years ago
Habitat: Tropical Swamps
Length: 49 ft
Diet: Fish and reptiles
The scaly skin was probably patterned like an anaconda’s.

Very interesting! 🙂
Snakes were not at all poisonous during the Cretaceous Period and my theory is that the strange inner double teeth that Oviraptor dinosaurs had were used for crushing the skulls of snake prey. I have a number of real fossilized Oviraptor eggs.
